We are delighted to announce that Olga Skumiał has joined the Atypika Foundation team – a scenographer, light and space designer who has been successfully combining the worlds of art, theatre, design and technology for over two decades. Her presence is not only a strengthening of the team, but also an inspiration to further develop projects at the intersection of art, environmentalpsychology and neurodiversity.
From MTV to opera – an artistic path full of twists and turns.
Olga’s career is a story of extraordinary flexibility, versatility and constant curiosity about the world. She began her professional career in 2002 as a make-up artist and special effects creator for the Polish branch of MTV. Shortly afterwards, she discovered her passion for costumes, collaborating with the wardrobe manager of the Polish National Opera. It was there that she honed her craft, learning to work with fabric, silhouette and stage movement, which resulted in collaboration with dancers, models and top brands as part of the JWT agency in Warsaw.
Designing spaces with people in mind.
Since 2004, Olga has been increasingly boldly exploring the area of scenography, creating for the Levi’s brand, as well as designing fashion shows, events and advertising spots. Her first project of an immersive space – Fabrikat Trzciny – was a breakthrough moment, combining light, multimedia, architecture and theatre.
This experience pushed her towards light design, which became her next language of expression. In search of deeper knowledge, she went to Great Britain to study at the Paul McCartney School of Performing Arts. While still studying, she worked for global brands such as Nikon and Forbes, while also immersing herself in the world of British theatre.
From curtain to camera – light that tells stories
After graduating in 2009, Olga began working with contemporary dance companies and television. Since 2011, she has been associated with the BBC, co-creating, among others, the popular program The Dengineers, for which she received a BAFTAaward. She has also collaborated with director Mariusz Treliński and Felice Ross on productions of the Polish National Opera, including ballet premieres, which initiated her long-term cooperation with the Polish National Ballet.
In recent years, Olga has transferred her work to British cinema and series, working, among others, on the globally awarded series “Baby Reindeer” (Emmy, Golden Globe). She is currently co-creating a new project for Apple TV and developing her own studio, which will combine design with the psychology and therapeutic functions of light.

Her unique perspective – combining light, aesthetics, technology and sensitivity to psychological needs – perfectly fits our values.
